Washington, D.C., June 19, 2025 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced its strong support for the re-election of Doreen Bogdan-Martin as the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). SIA also noted its appreciation for the U.S State Department’s support for Ms. Bogdan-Martin’s candidacy and engagement at the ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), which is critical to a thriving U.S. space industry.

“SIA is pleased to join the U.S. State Department in supporting the re-election of Doreen Bogdan-Martin as Secretary-General of the ITU,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “Throughout her tenure as Secretary-General, Ms. Bogdan-Martin has championed satellite industry policy interests while recognizing the resilience and expanding importance of the commercial space industry – not only in connecting the World’s unconnected, but in providing critical services to billions of people around the globe each day. On behalf of SIA, I am proud to endorse the re-election of the Secretary-General as head of the ITU”.

Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement supporting the re-election of Doreen Bogdan-Martin as ITU Secretary-General.
