SIA Joins Space Industry Coalition Urging Funding of the Office of Space Commerce and TraCSS

On July 7, 2025, SIA joined a coalition of space industry associations and sent letters to the leadership of the United States House and Senate appropriations subcommittees that fund the Department of Commerce and specifically the Office of Space Commerce (OSC).

The letters urged appropriators to fund the OSC’s Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) and reject the proposal to terminate the Commerce Department’s space traffic coordination system. The letters were signed by SIA along with the Aerospace Industries Association, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Commercial Space Federation, Commercial SSA Coalition, National Security Space Association and Space Data Association.

Copies of the letters were also sent to the U.S. Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of Commerce and Defense along with the Acting Under Secretary for NOAA.
