SIA’s fall internships are policy and events-focused (SIA DoD Satcom Workshop, SATELLITE 2027), so applications are also open to nonprofit management and business students.

Intern policy activities vary depending on government activities and intern background, but in the past has included briefings and meetings with Congressional offices, the FCC, the State Department, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Defense, space companies, academic institutions, and more.

Interest in the space or satellite industry is highly recommended for the policy and legal internships.

SIA internships are offered in the fall semester (September-December), spring semester (January-April) and during the summer (May-August). SIA internships are unpaid, however an intern’s university may offer the option of receiving course credit or university-sponsored stipend for an SIA internship. Internships are open to recent graduates from undergrad, graduate students, and recent grad student graduates.

Internships are full-time, hybrid in Washington, DC. SIA typically takes on one intern per season.
