Satellite Industry Association Statement Regarding Proposed Legislation – Satellite and Telecommunications Streamlining Act
January 16, 2026 – The Satellite Industry Association releases the following statement regarding proposed bi-partisan legislation which aims to provide regulatory predictability and strengthen the commercial satellite sector.
“SIA applauds U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Senator Peter Welch (D-Vermont) for introducing the bipartisan Satellite and Telecommunications Streamlining Act,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “Standardizing the regulatory review process to prevent unnecessary licensing delays will help ensure continued American innovation, industry investment, and U.S. leadership in the global space economy. “
