Satellite Industry Association Congratulates Jared Isaacman Following His U.S. Senate Confirmation as NASA Administrator

Washington, D.C., December 17, 2025 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today congratulated Jared Isaacman on his Senate confirmation as the new Administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Mr. Isaacman is a business leader, aviator and has flown on two missions as a commercial astronaut. President Trump initially announced his intent to nominate Mr. Isaacman as the new NASA Administrator late last year and renominated him in November. The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee voted to advance his nomination to the full Senate on December 8th. As Administrator, he will lead a nationwide NASA team to advance the missions and goals of the U.S. space program.

“On behalf of SIA and our members, I would like to congratulate Jared Isaacman on his confirmation by the U.S. Senate and becoming the new head of NASA,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “As an astronaut and aviator, Mr. Isaacman has expertise in both space and aeronautics, and his business enterprise background provides him with the skills needed to bring a commercial and entrepreneurial focus to NASA. As the commercial satellite industry continues to expand in size and importance, SIA looks forward to working with Mr. Isaacman and his NASA leadership team to help ensure America’s continued leadership in the global commercial space and satellite industries.”

Jared Isaacman has commanded two commercial space missions, most recently the Polaris Dawn mission in 2024 where he performed a commercial extra-vehicular activity or EVA. Prior to becoming an astronaut, he founded commercial aerospace defense company Draken International in 2011. Based in Florida, the Company provides commercial tactical flight support and military aviation training services. In 1999, he started point-of-sale company United Bank Card (later named Shift4 Public) where he was CEO. Mr. Isaacman is also an experienced aviator and qualified military jet pilot for the Black Diamond Jet Team, a civilian aerobatic display team which flies military aircraft for airshows.
