SIA Congratulates Chairwoman Rosenworcel on Being Designated Char of the FCC by President Biden

Association Also Congratulates Chairwoman Rosenworcel and Gigi Sohn After President Announces FCC Commissioner Nominations

Washington, D.C., October 27, 2021 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today congratulated Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Jessica Rosenworcel on being designated by President Joe Biden as the new Chair of the FCC.  The President also announced his intent to nominate both Chairwoman Rosenworcel and Gigi Sohn as Commissioners of the FCC.

“On behalf of the Satellite Industry Association and our members, I wish to extend sincere congratulations to Chairwoman Rosenworcel on becoming the newly designated leader of the FCC,” said Tom Stroup, president of SIA.  “Chairwoman Rosenworcel is a spectrum policy champion and a leading advocate for bridging the digital divide and providing affordable, accessible connectivity to all Americans.  SIA and its members look forward to continuing to work with her and the entire Commission to extend the availability of satellite connectivity and all space-based services provided by commercial satellites.

“SIA would also like to congratulate Gigi Sohn on today’s FCC Commissioner nomination announcement.  We applaud her long term service and her advocacy for ubiquitous and affordable broadband connectivity.  The Association strongly encourages the U.S. Senate to rapidly confirm the nominations of both Chairwoman Rosenworcel and Gigi Sohn to serve on the FCC.”
