Satellite Industry Association Congratulates Alan Davidson for Being Nominated as NTIA Administrator

Washington, D.C., October 27, 2021 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today applauded the announcement that President Biden intends to nominate Alan Davidson as Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, at the National Telecommunications and Information Association (NTIA), Department of Commerce.  The Assistant Secretary serves as NTIA Administrator and is also the U.S. President’s principal adviser on telecommunications and information policy.  Mr. Davidson is currently a Senior Advisor at the Mozilla Foundation, a global nonprofit that promotes openness, innovation, and participation on the Internet.

“SIA congratulates Alan Davidson on being named the intended nominee to become the new NTIA Administrator,” said Tom Stroup, President of SIA.  “His decades of internet policy and cybersecurity experience as both an executive in the private sector and public servant make him an ideal nominee.  As a former Director of Digital Economy at Commerce, he also has a broad understanding of the importance of global connectivity and spectrum management, both of which are crucial to the commercial satellite industry.  SIA applauds the President’s announcement and encourages the U.S. Senate to quickly confirm Mr. Davidson’s nomination.
