Dr. Jacobs holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, in mathematics and physics, from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Science and a PhD in atmospheric science from North Carolina State University.

“On behalf of SIA and its members, I would like to congratulate Neil Jacobs on being confirmed by the Senate as the new NOAA Administrator,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “Dr. Jacobs brings a wealth of expertise having previously served with commercial providers of weather data and as head of NOAA.
