Satellite Industry Association Congratulates Gina Raimondo on Her Senate Confirmation as Commerce Secretary

Washington, D.C., March 3, 2021 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today congratulated Rhone Island Governor Gina Raimondo on her Senate confirmation as the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  Gov. Raimondo has served as Governor of Rhode Island since 2014 and was nominated as Commerce Secretary by President Biden in early January.

“On behalf of SIA and its satellite industry members, I wish to congratulate Governor Raimondo on her Senate confirmation as the new head of the Commerce Department,” said Tom Stroup, President of the Satellite Industry Association.  “The satellite industry is undergoing unprecedented growth thanks to technological innovation and reduced costs for the development, launch and deployment of new commercial spacecraft. SIA and its members look forward to working with the new Secretary and her department on a host of vital high priority space policy issues, such as space situational awareness and commercial regulatory reform, for the benefit of all Americans.”
