NOAA Assistant Secretary and OSC Director Taylor Jordan Delivers Opening Remarks at 27th Annual Satellite Industry Association Leadership Dinner

Washington, D.C., March 25, 2026 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced that Taylor Jordan, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Director of the Office of Space Commerce (OSC), was the opening keynote speaker at this year’s SIA Leadership Dinner, held on Monday evening in Washington, DC. Mr. Jordan addressed the gathering of satellite industry leaders and U.S. Government guests at SIA’s 27th annual Dinner.

As NOAA’s Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction, Mr. Jordan is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight regarding NOAA’s numerical weather prediction and environmental modeling, satellite programs and space innovation. As Director of the OSC, Mr. Jordan is head of the Office which serves as the Department of Commerce’s focal point for space commerce policy. Its mission is to foster economic growth, technological advancement, and international competitiveness of the U.S. commercial space industry. During President Trump’s first term, Mr. Jordan served as a senior policy advisor at NOAA, where he supported the agency’s satellite programs and provided strategic oversight of major space-system acquisitions. Earlier this year, he announced the long-term intent to further expand NOAA’s acquisition of satellite datasets for weather observation and forecasting.

“On behalf of SIA and our members, I wish to thank NOAA Assistant Secretary and OSC Director Taylor Jordan for delivering the opening keynote address at this year’s Leadership Dinner,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “SIA greatly appreciates Mr. Jordan’s attendance and his recognition of the ability for commercial satellites to provide much needed data for government entities such as NOAA.

“Mr. Jordan is committed to promoting commercial space activity while further strengthening America’s leadership in space. We look forward to continuing to work with him plus the entire leadership team at the OSC and NOAA to help ensure long-term expansion of the commercial satellite industry and U.S. leadership in space innovation and the global space economy.”

For more than a quarter century, the SIA Satellite Industry Leadership Dinner has been held annually during SATELLITE Week in Washington, DC. SIA has gathered satellite industry executives and government officials in order to recognize the important role the commercial satellite industry plays both domestically and abroad and to honor individuals who have demonstrated long-term leadership and dedication to public service on issues affecting the industry.
