Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy Delivers Wednesday Keynote Address at 20th Annual Satellite Industry Association DoD Commercial SATCOM Workshop

Washington, D.C., December 19, 2024 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today thanked Andrea Yaffe, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) for Space Policy, Department of Defense for delivering the Wednesday keynote address at SIA’s DoD Commercial SATCOM Workshop being held in Arlington, VA. Ms. Yaffe addressed a gathering of U.S. Government and Military leaders and Satellite Industry Executives as SIA celebrated the 20th anniversary of its premiere workshop event.

In her role as Senior Advisor to the ASD for Space Policy, Andrea Yaffe is responsible for supporting the ASD for Space Policy on all matters under the ASD’s purview including space, nuclear deterrence, countering weapons of mass destruction and missile defense policies. Prior to her role as Senior Advisor, Ms Yaffe served as the National Security Council’s Director for Space Policy.  In that role she was the lead advisor to the National Security Advisor on all matters related to outer space policy.  She took on that challenge after serving as the Director for Space Strategy and Plans in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OUSDP) where she led a team that developed and shaped Department of Defense space policies and strategies and contributed to broader U.S. Government space strategies.

The 20th Annual DoD Commercial SATCOM Workshop, co-hosted by the Satellite Industry Association and the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM*), took place on December 16th-18th in Arlington, VA. The Workshop is one of the Association’s premier annual events and featured more than 50 speakers from the U.S. Government and the commercial satellite industry. For two decades, the Workshop has brought together U.S. Government and military leaders and decision-makers with the commercial satellite industry.
