Satellite Industry Association Welcomes Cooley as Its Newest Member

Washington, DC – February 20, 2025 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced that global law firm Cooley has joined as its newest affiliate member. The firm partners with clients on transformative deals, IP and regulatory matters, and high-stakes litigation throughout the US, Asia and Europe.

Cooley’s spacetech and satellite practice advises commercial satellite companies and their investors on all aspects of bringing new space-based technologies to market. The firm is guided by deep regulatory experience before federal and international agencies focused on space and satellites, including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, NASA, the US Department of Transportation, the US Department of Commerce, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

“SIA is pleased to welcome Cooley as the newest member of the Association,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “As the commercial satellite and space industries continue to expand at an unprecedented rate, the firm’s extensive regulatory experience makes it an ideal addition to SIA. We welcome Cooley’s skill in working with federal and international agencies focused on space and satellite regulatory and public policy.”

“We’re excited to join SIA,” said Tony Lin, Cooley partner and lead of the firm’s spacetech and satellite group. “We look forward to working with SIA and our industry colleagues on the emerging issues facing the industry.”

Affiliate membership in SIA is open to satellite companies as well as supporting entities that advocate for and promote the domestic commercial satellite industry. SIA affiliate members receive several benefits, including attendance at SIA’s Annual Association Meeting, participation in all open SIA meetings and most events (excluding the SIA Leadership Dinner), and SIA member discounts to industry events.
