Satellite Industry Association Applauds Appointment of Aarti Holla-Maini as Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs

Washington, D.C., June 27, 2023 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today applauded Aarti Holla-Maini on being appointed the new Director of the United Nations (U.N.) Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).  UNOOSA works to promote international cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of space, and in the utilization of space science and technology for sustainable economic and social development.

Ms. Holla-Maini brings to UNOOSA over 25 years of professional expertise in the space sector including in managerial and advocacy functions.  Most recently, she held the role of Executive Vice-President Sustainability, Policy & Impact at NorthStar Earth & Space. She also spent over 18 years as Secretary-General of the Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA).
