Aurora Insight Joins the Satellite Industry Association
Washington, D.C., May 25, 2021 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced that, Aurora Insight, a radio frequency (RF) data analytics company, is the newest affiliate member of SIA. Based in Denver, CO, the Company utilizes a wide variety of data collection methods including satellites, aircraft and drive testing to dynamically monitor global spectrum usage and provide clients with detailed maps and analysis of the RF spectrum environment.
On April 29th, Aurora Insight announced the successful launch of its BRAVO satellite. The Company’s third nano-satellite was launched by Arianespace on board a Vega launch vehicle and the spacecraft joins Aurora Insight’s two other satellites in low-Earth-orbit (LEO). The three satellites, equipped with RF sensors, orbit the Earth every 90 minutes to map the spectrum environment and measure wireless deployments including 5G networks.
“We are very pleased to announce that spectrum analytics company Aurora Insight is our newest satellite industry member,” said Tom Stroup, president of SIA. “Bridging the digital divide by providing the world’s unconnected with broadband connectivity is a goal shared by regulators and commercial satellite internet providers who have the unique capability of providing ubiquitous global service. If the goal of global connectivity is to be attained, the finite resource of RF spectrum needs to be sustainably and efficiently managed. Therefore we welcome Aurora Insight and their RF monitoring and spectrum mapping expertise, especially at a time when the next-generation of 5G services are being deployed around the world.”
“Joining the Satellite Industry Association is a great step forward for Aurora Insight and we are excited to connect with key players in the satellite industry. With the recent launch of our third satellite, Aurora Insight has significantly expanded our data collection capabilities, and we are well-positioned to provide the industry with much-needed insights and answers about spectrum and wireless networks,” said Jennifer Alvarez, Aurora Insight’s CEO and Co-Founder.
Affiliate membership in SIA is open to satellite companies as well as supporting entities that advocate and promote the domestic commercial satellite industry. SIA Affiliate Members receive a number of benefits including attendance at SIA’s Annual Association Meeting, participation in all open SIA meetings and most events (excluding the SIA Leadership Dinner) and SIA Member discounts to industry events.
