Washington, D.C., March 24, 2026 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Space Bureau Chief Jay Schwarz was the Government keynote speaker at this year’s SIA Leadership Dinner, held on Monday evening in Washington, DC. Mr. Schwarz delivered his keynote address to a gathering of satellite industry leaders and SIA guests at SIA’s 27th annual Dinner.
Jay Schwarz is Chief of the FCC Space Bureau where he is responsible for the FCC’s space licensing and spectrum management. He advises the FCC Chairman and commissioners on space policy, works closely with senior officials in the Administration and in Congress, and represents U.S. interests abroad at high-stakes global forums. In his first tour at the FCC, Mr. Schwarz served as Chairman Ajit Pai’s Wireline Advisor after also holding positions within the Wireline Competition Bureau, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, and the Office of Strategic Planning.
Recently, the Space Bureau Chief described the current state of the satellite industry as the “Space Industrial Revolution” and he underlined the importance of reworking the Commission’s licensing process as well the need for adequate spectrum to support that revolution.
“On behalf of SIA and our members, I wish to thank FCC Space Bureau Chief Jay Schwarz for addressing our gathering of satellite industry leadership and U.S. Government guests,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “SIA greatly appreciates the Bureau Chief’s attendance and recognition of the expanding importance of satellites and the value of both the spectrum bandwidth and revised licensing regime needed to further support space technological innovation and continued industry growth.
“SIA and its members look forward to continue working with Mr. Schwarz and his Bureau plus the entire leadership team at the FCC to help ensure long-term expansion of the satellite industry and America’s leadership in space innovation and the global space economy.”
For more than a quarter century, the SIA Satellite Industry Leadership Dinner has been held annually during SATELLITE Week in Washington, DC.
